Honda
Drive in the future

This project is a futuristic sports car concept that redefines the relationship between driver and machine through biometric connection and emotional design.

Drawing from this Japanese film director's iconic rain and fog scenes, the moodboard blends advanced technology with cinematic artistry. Red represents the driving force that propels us forward, cutting through rain and fog that carries whispers of history from a century past.

Inspiration

Everything begins with raindrops—the iconic visual signature of Japanese cinema. I started by designing weather iconographies with hard-edged raindrop forms that maintain perfect readability whether scaled down to 60 pixels or projected as holograms against the car's dark, complex interior.

These sharp, geometric raindrops became the foundational design language, translating cinematic drama into a contemporary interface system that cuts through any environment while preserving the minimal aesthetic that defines the entire project.

Meter Screen

I maintained strict minimalism in the meter screen to enhance the car's design philosophy while eliminating unnecessary information that could distract from the pure driving experience.

Hologram

AR experience is central to this car's interface. When speed increases, visual elements naturally blur, mimicking the driver's focused state. I created a translucent texture system for all holographic UI elements and 3D models that responds to this dynamic environment.

The key challenge was balancing transparency with readability—ensuring critical information remains visible even at high speeds. I solved this by adding core backlighting that provides solid color foundation, allowing the holographic elements to maintain clarity while preserving their ethereal, futuristic aesthetic.

This creates an interface that feels appropriately immaterial yet functionally reliable, adapting to the intensity of the driving experience

Technology

This car goes beyond traditional screens and buttons. The vehicle uses voice control, mind reading, stress detection, and eye movement tracking to create a truly responsive environment. Instead of demanding your attention, the visuals respond to you—appearing only when they're relevant and fading away when you don't need them.

Map

I designed a holographic navigation map with the same translucent, futuristic aesthetic as the car's hologram UI—making it the highlight moment of Honda's VR concept car experience. When faced with technical constraints and a six-week deadline, I systematically analyzed options and delivered a hybrid solution that executives praised as the demo's standout feature.

3D Albums

This continues the immersive experience where sound plays a crucial role. Music cannot be separated from the driving experience. To better convey the energy of different musical genres, I created these 3D album visualizations that represent distinct music styles through dimensional form.

Each 3D album translates musical energy into visual language, allowing drivers to feel the genre's personality before selection. This spatial approach to music interface reinforces the car's philosophy of emotion-through-minimalism, where even entertainment choices become part of the intimate human-machine connection.

AR Path

I designed the AR Path as an augmented reality navigation system that projects directional guidance directly into the driver's field of view. Unlike traditional GPS displays, I created this system to appear during the most intense moments of the driving experience, helping drivers maintain focus through clean, intuitive visual cues while simultaneously amplifying the emotional core of the journey.
